UKC stop the war

Hi everyone,

We would like your help to communicate to your members or contacts about a documentary we are going to project next week.

At the occasion of the anniversary be mid-March of the 5th year of the war in Iraq ,Monday March 3rd, 6.30

pm in KLT 3 we will a project Battle for Haditha. It is a documentary drama about the Iraq war. The director Briton Nick Broomfield who won the Golden Shell best director prize at the 55th San Sebastian International Film Festival last October. It has just been released in UK , February 1st.

It portrays the events leading to the killing of 24 Iraqi non-combatants in

Haditha at the hands of US Marines in November 2005 in retaliation for the death of a U.S. Marine killed by a roadside bomb.

The Film focuses on three different viewpoints, the first of Iraqi insurgents, which in an old man, who we learn is an ex-Army officer and his son. The second focuses on a Corporal Ruiz, a young Marine who you feel wants to be anywhere but Iraqi and the finally the film focuses on a young Iraqi couple and their extended family.

Everyone is free .
And if anyone is interested we are organizing a trip to London Saturday March 15th in London for the global protest-demonstrate for the 5th anniversary of the war in Iraq . We already have a coach which will leave from the University at 9.30 am in front of Mandela Building . The cost is 7 pounds, Tickets will be available before and after the projection.
